Personal
Dr. Olof Johansson is professor of Political Science, Head of Department and Director of the National Head Teachers Training Programme at Umeå University, Sweden. He is also an International Associate of the Centre for the Study of Values and Leadership and a member of the Board of Governors of the UCEA: Willower Centre for the Study of Leadership and Ethics located at Penn State University in USA.His research interest has over the years been focused on political culture, public policy making and administration. During the last years the focus of his research interest has been on educational leadership. He is at present involved in four different comparative research projects: The Nature, form and Functions of Values in School Administration in Western Australia, Canada and Sweden, The International Project on Successful School Leadership in Australia, Canada, England, Hong Kong Sweden and USA and Leading Schools Successfully in Challenging Urban Context: Strategies for Improvement in Greece, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Ireland, England, Finland and Sweden. The Swedish platform for these projects are the Swedish research project “Structure, Culture, Leadership: Prerequisites for Successful Schools” with Dr Johansson as the main researcher and grant holder. This project is financed by the Swedish research council and has 6 doctoral students and three additional researchers.
